The Clarisse Machanguana Foundation wants to build an academy with the aim of maximizing the potential of children and young people in the village of Marracuene.
The infrastructure, the value of which has not been revealed, will cover an area of one hectare and will include, in the first phase, a multifunctional basketball, handball and volleyball court, offices and toilets.
The information was revealed to the press yesterday in the village of Marracuene by the foundation's patron and former WNBA athlete, Clarisse Machanguana, during another act of donation of a digital room made up of 15 computers.
"We are creating life skills laboratories, where young people will know how to do things, they will learn entrepreneurship, they will learn to be carpenters, plumbers, they will learn digital and financial literacy," said Machanguana.
In addition to practicing sport, we want them to learn skills that will enable them to enter the job market without necessarily having to go to university, although we do encourage this," he explained.
According to the former basketball player, the idea is to create a sports movement where young people forget about drugs and alcohol and are more focused on school.
The space for the construction of the academy has been made available by the Marracuene community and currently has the support of Moza banco, who in the meantime has asked for more people to be involved in the project.
"It would be good to have the participation of several partners because it's a job that will strengthen the community, it will create jobs, it's something that benefits all of us as human beings."
The Clarisse Machanguana Foundation has existed since 2015. Since then, the Foundation has reached 25,000 people in the areas of health, education and sport, and has facilitated scholarships for six beneficiaries who are studying and practicing sport in the USA and Italy.
