IMF satisfied with latest developments in Mozambique's economic sector

The head of the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who is in Maputo, expressed satisfaction with the latest developments in the economic sector, after his last visit last May, which culminated with an agreement to resume financing the General State Budget.

The sentiment was expressed, this Monday, after a meeting held with Mozambique's Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela.

"There has been good compliance with the targets, according to the commitments between the IMF and the Government, since May this year," said Álvoro Pires, during the meeting with the Finance Minister.

The IMF mission is to work for about ten days in Mozambique, and is expected to present an evaluation report on September 16.

The IMF and World Bank have resumed their support for the General State Budget, after just over five years of suspension, following the discovery of the Unreported Debts.
