Funding for NGOs will be controlled by a government body

Financiamento às ONGs será controlado por uma entidade do Governo

The government spokesman, Inocêncio Impissa, said on Friday that the government will present, in the next few days, an entity to manage, in a centralized way, financial donations and support applications for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

The aim is to ensure that the final beneficiaries of the support are assisted in the best way, and this will involve, according to Impissa, the elimination of some procedures in the chain of support to the final recipients, including logistics costs.

"The President of the Republic has been thinking about an entity and it has already been found, and we'll be announcing it soon. It will coordinate all the aid for NGOs. We're also going to have to eliminate the stopovers that exist until the money reaches the final beneficiary and we can assist Mozambicans in a convenient way," he said, quoted by the Mozambican press. News.

This is because Daniel Chapo expressed concern about the level of assistance to the population in Cabo Delgado. It seems that reconstruction and humanitarian assistance in Cabo Delgado, which has received financial support of around two billion dollars, is still in its infancy.

Chapo's dissatisfaction was expressed recently at a meeting with NGOs in Pemba, and Impissa said that the NGO representatives understood the need to work together to optimize support for Cabo Delgado province.
