Mozambique has sentenced the first two Mozambican citizens implicated in cases of funding to activities terrorists in Cabo Delgado province. The sentences handed down by the Provincial Judicial Court range from 28 to 30 years in prison.
The spokesperson for the III Meeting of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office and the National Criminal Investigation Service on money laundering and terrorist financing, Cármen MassicameHe said that this is the first national case that has gone to trial.
In an interview with Radio MozambiqueOn September 4, 2024, the two defendants in the case were sentenced.
She also said that between January and August of this year, 21 terrorism cases were registered, with a total of four defendants. Of these cases, 13 have already been tried, involving 19 defendants, 15 of whom have been sentenced to between eight and 30 years in prison, and 37 defendants are in pre-trial detention.
