The Competition Regulatory Authority (ARC) announced yesterday it had sanctioned the cement plant Dugongo, in the amount of more than 20 million Meticais, for not providing information in response to several requests from this entity.
The information had been requested repeatedly since August 2021 as part of the study underway to determine the costs involved in the production and distribution chain of clinker and construction cement.
"It was ultimately intended to assess the criteria and methodologies for calculating sales prices, as there are indications of anti-competitive practices in the construction cement sector," a statement indicates.
Failure to provide or providing false, inaccurate, or incomplete information in response to requests by the Competition Regulatory Authority, in the use of its sanctioning or supervisory powers, constitutes an infraction punishable by a fine not exceeding 1% of the previous year's turnover.
