Stories, memories and reflections are the proposals of Eduardo Quive and Mélio Tinga for May 15, at 6pm, at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center.
The writers are launching their literary works in Maputo: "Mutiladas" and "Névoa na sala" under the Catalogus label.
Far from his comfort zone, Eduardo Quive has distanced himself from verse in "Mutiladas". The writer's first book of short stories portrays stories that follow three paths: women, life and the exercise of the author's memories, in brief, intense and provocative writing.
In this work, the fate of the characters reflects a society of daily tragedies, where violence and indifference have become a manifesto of inhumanity.
Mélio Tinga has accustomed us to fiction and this time he takes us to a story about a man who accidentally ends up in the trenches of a war in the north of the country. A dead man leads him back. His father is waiting for him at the door.
The ghosts of war haunt him deep down. He therefore spends part of his life in an (imaginary) hospital specializing in trauma and depression, where he falls in love with a woman who is trying to heal the pain of trying to conceive, a talented poet who hides a mystery under her bed.
The novel is narrated by three different voices who go through pain, love, death, the fantastic and disillusionment with an imperfect world.
Friends and companions on many journeys, Quive and Tinga share common ideas and their passion for literature is one of them. The two-man launch is a decision taken by the two authors who see the event as a moment of sharing and affection, where the collective comes to the fore instead of individualism.
With a subtle femininity, both works are an invitation to two or more journeys where readers will reflect on love, depression and humanity.
