Eni Rovuma Basin, on behalf of the partners in Area 4 and together with ADPP, inaugurated a school sports facility at the Cidadela das Crianças ADPP Community Primary School in Maputo.
The project consisted in the total reconstruction of a multipurpose sports field with about 600 square meters, for the practice of school sports activities such as basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball, and handball, and also includes a fully equipped recreational area for pre-school children.
The implementation of this project aims to develop the educational and physical skills of students with the goal of improving their academic performance while reducing dropout rates.
The inclusion of sports activities in the curriculum will enable inclusive, equitable and quality education, thus contributing to the expansion of learning opportunities. This infrastructure will benefit about 500 students from the ADPP Children's Citadel and all children residing in the surrounding communities.
With this initiative, Eni Rovuma Basin intends to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 3 - Good health and well-being, and SDG 4 - Quality education.
This initiative is part of the implementation of the sustainability plan of the Coral Sul project, approved by the Government of Mozambique.
Coral Sul is the first project to bring into production considerable natural gas resources from the Rovuma Basin in Mozambique, with the first LNG shipment is expected in the second half of 2022. The project is operated by Eni Rovuma Basin on behalf of Area 4 partners, namely Eni, ExxonMobil, CNPC, Galp, KOGAS and ENH.
