"Meeting with Venâncio Mondlane shows that collective interests are above individual ones" - Chapo

“Encontro com Venâncio Mondlane mostra que interesses colectivos estão acima dos individuais” – Chapo

The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, said on Tuesday (25) that the collective interests of Mozambicans are more important than the "interests of individuals", with a view to stabilizing the country, given the current political tension marked by violent demonstrations.

"There is no interest of one person or group that is above the collective interests of Mozambicans," said Chapo, speaking to journalists about the unprecedented meeting he had on Saturday with former presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane.

Describing the meeting with Mondlane as cordial, the head of state stressed that the stabilization of the country is crucial for Mozambique's economic and social development.

Cited by Letter from Mozambique, Chapo also pointed out that the inclusive political dialogue underway must involve all Mozambicans, including the former presidential candidates who took part in the general elections on October 9.
