Businesswoman Sheinaz Gani, who had been in the hands of kidnappers since last May, has been released. The information was provided by people close to the family, revealing that she was released yesterday, Sunday night, somewhere in the city of Maputo.
"She's apparently fine. But she's psychologically broken," sources close to her told MZNews.
Sheinaz Gani, 47, a businesswoman and owner of the Sabina clothing factory, had been kidnapped along Karl Marx Avenue in Maputo City by unknown individuals.
Months later, the businesswoman appeared in a video widely circulated on social media, begging for help and revealing that she is tortured every day by her kidnappers.
"I'm asking for help, please, my brother doesn't want to help. Dad, I'm not well, I don't have any medication, I don't have any food, please. Sell my house, sell the factory, I don't want anything, I just want to come home with my daughters, that's all, Dad," Sheinaz Gani begged in the video.
At the end of August, the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) in Maputo City, through its spokesman, Hilario Lole, revealed that it had captured one of the people indicted in the kidnapping of businesswoman Sheinaz Gani, stressing that it had also identified other fugitives whose search and arrest warrants had already been issued.
