Hidden Debts: Gregorio Leão's properties sold after discovery of financial ruin

The two properties registered in the name of Anlaba Investimentos, located in a condominium in the Marginal area of Maputo city, titled by the defendant Gregório Leão, former director general of the State Information and Security Service (SISE), seized at the request of the Public Ministry, were sold in early 2019, shortly after the scandal of "undeclared debts" became known.

The confirmation was made this week by Abdul Mohindin, one of the buyers of the properties, who was heard by the court hearing the case to seize the assets of the defendants involved in the case.

As he testified, he bought one of Anlaba's properties for 10 million and 250 thousand meticais and put it on rent for 106 thousand meticais a month, but without ever knowing that they were involved in controversy.

He also explained that he helped a friend in the purchase of the second residence, at the same price, and the payments were made by checks and bank transfers to Adiel Buque, who the Public Ministry points out is a relative of the defendant Ângela Buque Leão.

In fact, to better clarify the facts, the court will hear, on May 3, Adiel Buque and three other people to clarify the nature of the business of the sale of the properties, as well as to know who were the potential owners and beneficiaries of the more than 20 million meticais resulting from their sale.

Just last week, the court heard Silva Cadango, who was associated with Anlaba, and who said that he joined the institution at the invitation of António Carlos do Rosário, but never carried out any concrete activity.

Sometimes, according to him, he has been asked to sign documents, without ever having had any relevant role in the functioning of the society.

He denied signing a minute of the Anlaba property sale, suspecting that his signature was forged. (News)
