Principals and teachers leave schools to take part in the training of provincial trainers

Directores e professores abandonam escolas para participarem na formação de formadores provinciais

The training of provincial trainers began on Thursday (12), throughout the country, and according to the Electoral Bulletin of the Center for Public Integrity (CIP), school principals and teachers make up the majority of those involved in the process.

"[This] means that in many schools classes are running at half capacity," according to the CIP.

Since the start of the election campaigns, educators have abandoned their jobs to attend to other agendas.

The training of trainers lasts six days and is expected to end on September 17th.

"Most of the teachers will be MMV and their training runs from September 24 to October 4. In Morrumbala, Zambezia, pupils in several schools are without classes. The teachers, principals and other technicians are in training," we read.

The same is true in Mossuril, in Nampula province, where most of the trainees are school principals, teachers and other civil servants.

In Murrupula, also in Nampula, school principals and teachers have left their jobs to take part in the training, while another considerable number of teachers are involved in election campaigns, thus affecting the normal course of classes.

In Nacala-à-Velha, classes are frequently suspended to make way for Frelimo's election campaign. The situation is causing outrage among parents and guardians.

The same scenario, of teachers and principals leaving the classroom to devote themselves to STAE training, is reported in Mopeia. A considerable number of the 54 candidates for provincial training are teachers. After this training, the 50 selected will train 825 MMV candidates.
