The principal of Namialo Basic School, in the district of Meconta, in Nampula province, is accused of having embezzled food for school lunches, including around 57 bags of rice, oil, salt and computer equipment from the institution last Friday.
When the absence of food and materials was detected, the accused said he suspected vandalism.
Police investigations led to the arrest of the school principal, the warehouse keeper and the guard.
The police say that the accused acted in collusion and that they simulated vandalizing the warehouse.
"They managed to stir up the students to simulate a demonstration demanding certain things, when [, in fact] they wanted to hide the action they had carried out the day before," said the police spokesman.
On the other hand, the National Criminal Investigation Service arrested three individuals accused of being the ringleaders of the demonstrations that culminated in the vandalization and burning of a Nacala Logistics locomotive. (Source: STV)
