The death of a worker at mining company Kenmares Resources, presumably by murder, last week led to the arrest of five others on suspicion of committing the crime.

According to the NewsThe deceased allegedly refused an offer from his five colleagues to steal fuel from the company.

"...the accused chose to throw him into a ditch and then used an excavator to bury him," it reads.

However, the accused reported the death to the company, pointing to an accident at work as the cause. The mining company reported the case to the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC), requesting an investigation.

After the investigations, experts from Health, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique and SERNIC concluded that it was a murder, carried out "by work colleagues". (Photo:  Kenmare Resources)
