The former President of the Republic, this Monday, remembered Desmond Tutu as a fighter for equality, considering that his ideals are recognized "everywhere there has been oppression".
According to Joaquim Chissano, the South African archbishop emeritus and Nobel Peace Prize winner longed for a nation where all races cohabited peacefully.
From Chissano Tutu's perspective he was a living example of morality, but despite his physical disappearance, his works will remain as a source of inspiration "where there was oppression."
"What he preached he sought to show in practice," added the former Mozambican head of state.
Desmond Tutu gained notoriety during the worst hours of the racist regime in South Africa, when he organized peaceful marches against segregation as a priest calling for international sanctions against the white regime in Pretoria.
