Members of parliament from RENAMO and the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) will take up their seats in the Assembly of the Republic in Maputo today.
The two parties skipped the inauguration led by the then President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, on January 13. With their absence, the political groupings sought to demonstrate their non-alignment with the results of the general elections on October 9, 2024.
The parties announced last week that their elected MPs would take their seats at the first chance. RENAMO and MDM believe that they have already demonstrated their position to Mozambicans and the world on those elections.
RENAMO will enter the 10th legislature with 28 MPs and MDM with eight.
