The members of the Assembly of the Republic elected on October 9 are due to take office on January 13, according to a decision approved on Saturday (28) by the National Electoral Commission (CNE)..

According to a publication by the Center for Public Integrity (CIP), this decision was passed only with the votes of Frelimo, the ruling party that was declared the winner of the October 9 general elections by the Constitutional Council.

"According to the approved resolution, the deputies will be sworn in on January 13. A week later, on January 20, the members of the Provincial Assemblies will be sworn in," says the publication.

Meanwhile, at the same session, it was approved that the voting material from the October 9 elections will be destroyed by January 22.
