Tropical Depression could enter through Angoche and affect an estimated 500,000 people

The tropical depression formed in the Mozambique Channel may evolve this morning into a severe tropical storm, with winds of 90 to 120 km/h and gusts up to 140 km/h.

The phenomenon, which is expected to enter the district of Angoche, could affect about five hundred thousand people in the provinces of Nampula, Zambezia, Sofala, Manica, Tete and Niassa.

According to meteorologist Acácio Tembe, the forecast is for 4 days of rain of up to 200 millimeters.

"The projections already show that it will enter through Nampula, precisely through Angoche, but it will have effects in many more areas, because the radius of action is large. It could affect the provinces of Nampula, Zambezia, Sofala, Manica, Tete, and also parts of Niassa. We are predicting large amounts of rain because despite not having much wind, between 100 and 120 km / h, wind is weak, it will bring a lot of rain, "he said.
