Conditions created for the start of the Poliomyelitis vaccine in the country

The Health Sector assures that the conditions are in place to respond to the polio outbreak that erupted in neighboring Malawi in February of this year to curb the disease in the country.

For this purpose, the vaccination campaign against polio will start between March 24 and 27, covering all children under 5 years of age in the provinces and districts in the center and north.

Benigna Matsinhe, National Health Director, said that the campaign includes four phases, the first two of which will take place door-to-door, from the 24th to the 27th of this month.

For the coverage of the campaign, more than 46,000 health agents were trained to ensure the success of the vaccination of children residing in accommodation centers due to terrorism in Cabo Delgado and in flood-stricken provinces.

In terms of costs, the first two phases of vaccination against polio, are budgeted at about 4 million US dollars. Benigna Matsinhe, was speaking this Wednesday, in Matola, at an advocacy meeting with media professionals.
