Health authorities recorded 65 covid-19-associated deaths in hospital units last week, the worst since the fourth wave of the pandemic broke out in the country.
The Ministry of Health saw a reduction in cases in the same week with 17,620 cases recorded, down from 21,196 infections the previous week, and the total active cases now stands at 37,999. The country has 232 people hospitalized due to covid-19, 31 more than a week ago.
Since January 3, the country has also recorded the highest number of cases reported as recovered, totaling 12,212, double the number from the previous week.
Last week 44,478 tests were performed, compared to 48,858 in the previous week.
Mozambique has a cumulative total of 2,096 deaths and 210,991 covid-19 cases, 81% of which have been recovered.
