Mozambique, Angola, Brazil and Cape Verde are among the countries that have been removed from the UK's "red" list, freeing them from the mandatory 10-day quarantine on arrival in England.
The change came into effect on Monday, October 11, in time for the interim vacations in the last week of October, the British government said through Transport Minister Grant Shapps.
In all, 47 countries come off the UK's "red list" and are free of the mandatory quarantine and testing on the second and eighth day.
Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela are the only countries that remain on the "red list" because they are considered to be at higher risk for containing the pandemic of COVID-19.
Transport Minister Grant Shapps said the easing of restrictions will allow families and friends to reunite, and travel to tourist destinations with different seasons.
The British government has also announced that 37 other countries, including Brazil and India, will now also have their vaccines recognized for entry into the country, eliminating the need for pre-departure testing.
"Restoring people's confidence in travel is the key to rebuilding our economy," he added.
The rules in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are decided by the respective autonomous governments, which have aligned themselves with the English system.
Since Monday a simplified system of restrictions has been in place, which has eliminated pre-departure tests on entry into the UK.
All travelers, except children under 5, are still required to pay for a PCR test in the first 48 hours after arrival. The same, will become cheaper antigen testing before the end of the month.
Travelers from countries not on the "red list" who are not vaccinated, are only partially vaccinated, or do not have their vaccinations recognized by the British authorities are required to submit pre-departure tests. They must also test on the second and eighth day. And, comply with a 10-day quarantine, which can be at their own residence or another location of their choice.
