The Constitutional Council (CC) confirmed today, Thursday (02), that Daniel Chapo, the candidate with the most votes in the last general elections, will take office on January 15 as the new President of the Republic.
It was through Deliberation No. 01/CC/2025 that the institution led by Lúcia Ribeiro announced the date of the investiture of Filipe Nyusi's successor at Ponta Vermelha.
On December 23, the CC validated and proclaimed the election results of October 9, declaring the victory of Frelimo and its presidential candidate, Daniel Chapo, with 65,17% of votes, in a decision that cannot be appealed.
According to the Constitutional Council, in second place was Venâncio Mondlane, of PODEMOS, with 24.19% of the votes, followed by Ossufo Momade, of Renamo, with 6.62%, while the leader of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM), Lutero Simango, obtained 4.02%.
