General Police Commander demands a concerted fight against kidnappings

The General Commander of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique says the authorities must be implacable in the fight against kidnappings and never allow weapons to circulate on public roads in foreign hands.

Bernardino Rafael says it makes no sense that in a territory where there are police units, there is shooting and circulation of weapons, without the knowledge of the authorities.

Bernardino Rafael was speaking at the presentation of the new Deputy Commander General of PRM, Fernando Tsucana, recently appointed by the Head of State, where he said that the authorities should not give criminals a truce.

Quoted by Notícias, the General Commander of PRM spoke of the security at the country's borders and stressed that illegal immigrants should not find room to enter the country.

On the issue of corruption within the police, the Commander General has made it known that strong measures are underway to discourage the practice.

At the presentation ceremony of the new Deputy Police Commander of the Republic of Mozambique, Bernardino Rafael shared the recommendations of the 31st Coordinating Council of the Ministry of Interior.

The presentation of the new deputy commander of PRM took place at the Rapid Intervention Police Command, in Maputo, and was attended by different police forces.
