The Council of Ministers has set up brigades to ascertain the real situation regarding the incidence of cholera in the country, as well as to monitor the measures underway to prevent the disease, the spokesperson for the Council of Ministers said on Tuesday.
Because of the outbreak of cholera in some provinces of the country, and because of the need for a more expressive and comprehensive approach due to the launch of the agricultural season, "brigades from the Council of Ministers have been dispatched to go to some provinces of our country from Friday of the same week," said Filimão Suaze, at the end of the 38th Session of the Council of Ministers.
The most alarming cases were recorded in the provinces of Nampula, Zambézia, Tete and Cabo Delgado. These are where the brigades will be working. The records in these provinces "already signal to us the need for a sharper approach to the outbreak of cholera and diarrhea".
The spokesman also said that it was too early and premature to give figures on the disease situation. "We mention these four provinces because they are the ones that have become evident," he said, noting that the numbers currently fluctuate between 100 and 200 in each province. "As it's a situation that has broken out, the figures may not be the same."
As well as working out the best ways of tackling and coordinating cholera issues, the brigades will work on this initial phase of launching agricultural production.
