About 14.7 million people over the age of 18 have had at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the country, representing a vaccination coverage of 90.9% of the 15.2 million eligible.
Health sector statistics indicate that 13.8 million people have achieved full immunity, while 338,790 health care workers, seniors in nursing homes, and the chronically ill have taken the booster dose.
The provinces of Nampula, Zambezia and Tete have the highest rates of vaccination coverage, while Maputo city, Gaza and Inhambane have the lowest figures. Between Tuesday and yesterday, 11,770 more doses of vaccine were administered at the posts set up by the National Health Service.
Meanwhile, eight more individuals have tested positive for Covid-19, according to data from the Ministry of Health, which also points to the recovery of four patients. The infected were identified in 585 samples from contacts of positive cases and patients with suggestive symptoms, representing a positivity of 1.37 percent and a cumulative rate of 17.19 percent.
During this period, there were no Covid-19-related hospital admissions or discharges, with three patients remaining on treatment, one of whom was in intensive care on oxygen therapy. The cumulative number of deaths remains at 2201, with no new deaths due to the disease recorded in the country.
