CNE suspends STAE director and supervisors in Beira

CNE suspende Director e supervisores do STAE na Beira

The National Electoral Commission (CNE) has preventively suspended the district director of the Technical Secretariat for State Administration (STAE) and the supervisors in the city of Beira, in Sofala, in order to ascertain the veracity of alleged electoral offenses.

The CNE, which met for its 5th Ordinary Session, said that it had been following reports in the media, with some concern, of electoral events not provided for in the Electoral Registration Law.

On the occasion, the CNE took stock of the 26 days of voter registration, and reinforced the need to monitor the entire process at national level to ensure its smooth running.

This Saturday, the CNE launched the Voter Registration supervision process, according to The Country.

"The aim is to actually see how the registration is going at the posts, where we have the chance to interact not only with the brigades, but also with the inspectors and voters, to see if the process is taking place within the law," he explained, adding that this process is also aimed at listening to the challenges faced, in order to find quick and local solutions.

According to the CNE, these brigades will go from post to post, talking to those involved in the process so as to minimize the problems we have seen.

The electoral supervision process is taking place at national level and will last 10 days.
