CNE suffers cyber attack on official web pages

CNE sofre ataque cibernético em páginas oficiais de internet

The official websites of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) were the target of a cyber attack on Saturday morning, the institution said.

In a statement, the CNE said that despite the incident, everything had been done successfully to regain control. However, the damage or consequences have yet to be determined.

In fact, the electoral bodies, which have already recovered the pages, are reinforcing cyber security, the document explains, without giving further details.

This attack is taking place just ten days before the general elections on October 9. Voting will take place both inside and outside the country. Around 17 million voters are expected to go to the polls.

Mozambicans will choose the next President of the Republic, provincial governors, and parliamentary representation.
