Cimentos da Beira: Administrator "disappears" with 7 million of workers' salaries

Cimentos da Beira: Administrador “desaparece” com 7 milhões do  salário dos trabalhadores

The workers of the Cimentos da Beira company rioted yesterday at the Sofala provincial court in search of the administrator who is alleged to have disappeared with 7 million meticais, which was supposed to be used to pay January's salaries.

According to a report in "O País", the situation occurred a day after they had rioted at the company's premises to demand payment of unpaid wages and other benefits, allegedly without just cause.

The source says that the workers received assurances in mid-January that that month's wages would be paid last week, but this did not happen.

As a way of seeing the problem resolved, the workers at Cimentos da Beira said they would continue to take legal action to demand their rights.
