And this has been the scenario that the inhabitants of Maputo city and beyond have experienced whenever the rainy season arrives in the country. Flooded streets, floods in the homes, impassable roads, in short, a real ordeal.
And because of this, the councilor for Health and Social Action of the Maputo City Council, Alice de Abreu, called the press to present data of people who are being affected by the rains that have been falling since last Friday in the city of Maputo. According to her, about 2800 people are in a situation of vulnerability.
Alice de Abreu said that in addition to assisting those affected, the city is creating conditions for water drainage in the most critical neighborhoods.
"We are at the level of the most critical neighborhoods doing water suction, using tanker trucks and motor pumps that have been made available to the municipal districts," he said.
"We are raising awareness for the families that might be affected so that they can, during this period, if the water level is high, they can accommodate with family members who are in better conditions," pointed out the Maputo City Councillor for Health and Social Action.
