A Saudi company, Jampur Moçambique, Lda, which operates in the Chókwè district of Gaza province, is going to produce feed and fertilizer.
The production aims to meet demand from the poultry and aquaculture industries, as part of a series of new projects being introduced to make better use of products from the processing of rice, tomatoes and cashew nuts, according to "Notícias".
The company's focus was on finding market guarantees for locally produced rice, but now the entrepreneurs of the Jampur Group want to extend the range of investments to other projects, which include a production line for fish and poultry feed, fertilizers and supplements to improve the robustness of livestock.
The expectation of this business group, according to the source, is to reduce dependence on imports to satisfy the local poultry and fish market.
As well as producing and selling food, Jampur has other projects in the pipeline, including the creation of a footwear and uniform production industry.
Jampur, Mohammad Shafiq, chairman of the Group's board of directors, was also quoted by the newspaper as saying that at this embryonic stage of CAIC, the focus is on processing and marketing.
"We are also interested in investing in poultry production, fertilizers and uniforms, all here in the Chókwè district," he said.
The revitalization of the Chókwè Agro-Industrial Complex is the result of Mozambique's National Industrialization Programme (PRONAI), launched in 2021 by President Filipe Nyusi.
Its aim was to help increase production, stimulate agro-processing, reduce the export of raw materials and generate employment and income for the family sector.
