Chiquinho Conde says that Geny Catamo "is not yet a finished product"

Chiquinho Conde diz que Geny Catamo “ainda não é um produto acabado”

The Mozambican coach, Chiquinho Conde, recently highlighted the player's growth, stressing that Catamo "is not yet a finished product" and that he has a lot of untapped potential.

Mozambican international Geny Catamo, a young talent at Sporting Clube de Portugal, has been one of the revelations of the season and his progress has not gone unnoticed, both at the Alvalade club and with the Mozambique national team.

According to a publication on the Portuguese portal "Bench supporters"Catamo, who started out as a pure winger, has shown great adaptability to the wing role in Rúben Amorim's team, contributing not only defensively but also in attack. Last season, he was decisive at key moments, namely with the two goals scored against Benfica that practically handed the championship to Sporting. More recently, he scored again in a derby against FC Porto, helping the team win 2-0.

Meanwhile, Chiquinho Conde believes that Geny Catamo has a lot of room for progression. "He's shown remarkable growth, especially in his tactical understanding and competitiveness in one-on-one duels. He's learning to be more daring, to take more risks in one-on-ones, something I always asked of him when he was in the national team," commented Conde.

The coach also stressed that Catamo is known for being an introverted youngster, but that he has been gaining confidence both on and off the pitch.

"Now he's a father, his family is in Portugal, and that's given him new responsibility and confidence. He's evolved a lot in that respect and I believe he'll continue to grow," he added.

In addition to his technical and tactical qualities, Catamo has shown an exemplary professional attitude, dedicating himself entirely to his development as a player. Sporting, aware of his potential, maintains a calm stance regarding the player's future, knowing that his development could attract the attention of foreign clubs.

Geny Catamo has a contract with Sporting until 2028, and the Alvalade club hopes that the young Mozambican will continue to progress and contribute to the team's objectives, both nationally and internationally.
