Frelimo's presidential candidate, Daniel Chapo, met yesterday, Tuesday (17), in Pretoria, with the President of the ANC and South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, considering the meeting as a sign of alignment with the project to take Mozambique forward.

"We were received in Pretoria by President Cyril Ramaphosa. It was a fruitful meeting and in line with our project to take Mozambique forward," said Chapo, who is also secretary general of Frelimo.

According to a Savannah newspaperDaniel Chapo arrived in South Africa's political capital, Pretoria, accompanied by Frelimo Political Commission member Verónica Macamo, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

As he left the meeting, Daniel Chapo recalled that relations between Frelimo and the ANC, as liberating parties, extend to other countries.

"Frelimo has historical relations with the ANC here in South Africa, Chama Cha Mapinduzi in Tanzania, ZANU-FP in Zimbabwe, SWAPO in Namibia, with whom we have provided mutual aid at various times and we are here to reaffirm that we are together. We have visited other sister countries, we have been to Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Angola and today we are here in South Africa."

According to Chapo, ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has guaranteed support for Frelimo for the elections next October.

"Comrade President Cyril Ramaphosa reaffirmed the ANC's commitment to give unconditional support to Frelimo in the electoral process in the same way that Frelimo supported the ANC in the last elections."

According to Chapo, the meeting also served to congratulate the ANC and President Cyril Ramaphosa on their re-election in the last elections, as well as to encourage the people of that sister country to work hand in hand with the elected government.
