The Secretary General and presidential candidate of the Frelimo party, Daniel Chapo, promised the electorate of Maputo city yesterday to eliminate the problems in the education sector.
Chapo's main focus in the area of teaching and learning concerns the backlog of textbooks in primary education.
For the Frelimo candidate, who heard suggestions for solutions from potential voters, including the installation of a state printing press, economic sovereignty will be the force to ensure school supplies without delays.
"Resources for printing school books are made available late and the books are produced outside the country. Planning with other people's money is a big challenge. That's why we're fighting for the need to gradually gain our economic independence, because that will allow us to have our own resources to plan properly. But we must have our own money to say where we are going to produce our book. When you own the money, you say where the book should be made. You don't do education and health with other people's money," he said.
Still in Maputo, Chapo met with workers' unions and visited markets. He promised to solve youth problems by creating jobs.
