The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, announced yesterday the inclusion of more extra-parliamentary political parties with seats in the provincial assemblies at the dialogue table, essentially with a view to revising the electoral package.
"We concluded that it was important to include other political parties, the Democratic Revolution (RD), the Humanitarian Party of Mozambique (PAHUMO), the Social Renewal Party (PARESO) and the Party for National Reconciliation (PARENA)," he said, after the second meeting with the political parties, PODEMOS, Renamo and MDM with seats in parliament, and the extra-parliamentary party, Nova Democracia.
The extension will take place at a time when the parties present since the beginning of the dialogue efforts have already reached consensus on the terms of reference so that documents can be signed in the coming months.
However, as Chapo said, it was important to extend the dialogue to the RD, PAHUMO, PARESO and PARENA parties before signing the terms of reference already discussed.
"The aim is to revise the electoral law so that we have a consensual law for the next elections. We must continue to improve the process of provincial decentralization so that it is consensual among Mozambicans," he said.
According to Chapo, other issues are being debated that could lead to a revision of the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique.
