Around 800 establishments closed due to the demonstrations

Cerca de 800 estabelecimentos encerraram devido às manifestações

The post-election demonstrations in the country led to the closure of around 800 commercial establishments, according to the President of the Economic Associations of Mozambique - CTA.

Agostinho Vuma revealed this during a meeting he held with representatives of 35 political parties.

According to Vuma, the riots are paralyzing productive and commercial activity, so he called on the political parties to "suspend" the demonstrations until the election results are announced.

He said that the damage already caused by the demonstrations represents an economic setback that will take several years to recover from, regardless of who is declared the winner of the October 9 elections.
