The representative of the Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique (PODEMOS), Dinis Tivane, said today in Maputo that the work of the Constitutional Council (CC) will not bring the electoral truth.

"There will be no electoral truth based on what the CC is doing. It's a real joke, a waste of our sweat, of our taxes... People want electoral truth. You can't play games with people," he said.

He was speaking at a press conference on the outcome of last Wednesday's meeting with the CC.

It also accuses the CC of usurping the powers of the National Electoral Commission and the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE).

"The CC has to let the other bodies work. We can't continue on this path of circumventing the law," he said.

Podemos says that the CC is not acting transparently and should include observers in the process of validating the election results.
