The publishing house Cavalo do Mar and Camões - Portuguese Cultural Centre in Maputo, in partnership with Nedbank Mozambique, will hold the RESILIÊNCIA - Literature Festival, 5th edition, on the 3rd and 4th of May 2022, having as motto the celebration of the birth centenary of two great names of literature in Portuguese language, José Craveirinha and José Saramago and the publication, posthumously, of José Pastor's book of poems, hence the questioning "And now, José" to provoke reflection and summon other readings of contemporary literature.
This edition is special for the 5th anniversary of the creation of the publishing house Cavalo do Mar, focused and becoming a reference in literary publishing with important works and authors. The Festival will have a book fair in an unprecedented format, with a single price for all works. And as the event returns to a face-to-face format, the public will be able to get autographs and better interact with the authors.
RESILIENCE 5" has this year a format that expresses the dialogue and encounter between literature and the other arts, which also mirrors the profile of the authors to be celebrated: men of culture and deep relationships with music. That's why music will be present in almost all the conversation tables. In total there will be 18 guests, including poets, writers, journalists, teachers, actors, and musicians.
The first day (May 3) will be at Camões - Portuguese Cultural Centre, with a conversation between Ungulani Ba Ka Khosa and Mingas, moderated by journalist José dos Remédios, followed by a meeting between Armando Artur, Rogério Manjate and Portuguese writer José Luís Peixoto, moderated by Professor Conceição Siopa. To close the day, certainly what will be one of the special moments of the festival, a performance by writer Mélio Tinga and musician Thapelo Motseghwe, in dialogue with José Craveirinha, José Saramago, and José Pastor.
On the second day (May 04), at the Business Lounge by Nedbank, the poet Álvaro Taruma meets Xixel Langa, about the work "Matéria Para Um Grito", moderated by the poet Filimone Meigos. This will be followed by a performance around José Pastor's poetry by Ana Magaia and Guilherme Mussane, moderated by professor Olga Pires. To close the day and the festival, the writer Lucílio Manjate meets Lenna Bahule about the work "A Triste História de Barcolino", moderated by the poet Mbate Pedro.
Since 2018, Editora Cavalo do Mar has been organizing the RESILIENCE Literature Festival, with the aim of promoting books and reading and encouraging greater circulation of the works of Mozambican authors, inside and outside the country, thus contributing to the building of a resilient literary system and contributing to the training of readers in the country and in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), through broad access to the vast universe of our literature.
