The restoration work of the Old Cathedral of Quelimane is at a very advanced stage, with the stabilization phase of the building, about 250 years old, practically concluded.
The Good Signs Association, will invite the President of Portugal and the Governor of Goa in India, to participate in the ceremony of reopening to the public of the old cathedral of Quelimane, after the rehabilitation is concluded.
According to Rádio Moçambique, the information was revealed by the President of the General Assembly of the Good Signs Association.
Abdul Carimo Issá, said that the rehabilitation of the Old Cathedral of Quelimane is being projected for August next year, when the provincial capital of Zambezia turns eighty years old.
The cathedral has been closed for more than 40 years.
486 thousand dollars are being invested in this work, from the United States and Norway, equivalent to more than 30.5 million meticais.
