Goalkeeper Ernan and midfielder Guima will not be available for the Mozambican national soccer team in the match against Eswatini, in the third round of Group "I" of the Morocco-2025 CAN Qualification..
According to a Challenge newspaperThe match, to be played at the Zimpeto National Stadium in Maputo as part of a double round (third and fourth) scheduled for October, has yet to be scheduled by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The impossibility of counting on the two valuable Mambas players results from the fact that they reached the maximum of two yellow card penalties in the first and second round matches, played on Friday (6) and Tuesday (10), in the draw and victory against Mali (1-1) and Guinea-Bissau (2-1), respectively.
According to the competition rules, a player who receives two yellow cards is obliged not to play a match, the one immediately following the one in which he received the second yellow.
So, given that the Mambas' next match will be on matchday three, in Maputo, against Eswatini, Ernan and Guima may even be called up by the national coach, but they won't play.
However, because the fourth matchday will be against the same opponents, both players could be available again.
The Mambas lead Group "I" with four points, the same as Mali, who are in second place after the first two rounds.
