A citizen was murdered by terrorists on Saturday at the Chai administrative post in Macomia district, during an attack on a truck carrying sacks of cement from Pemba to Mueda district in Cabo Delgado province.

The victim was hit by several shots fired by terrorists along National Road 380 (N380), specifically on the stretch between the village of Quinto Congreso and the headquarters of the Chai administrative post.

According to the media, the loser belonged to the local force.

The terrorists allegedly interrupted the raid and stampeded when Rwandan soldiers, who were supporting the Mozambican forces, approached to respond to the attack.

"A truck carrying cement bound for the town of Mueda was attacked in Chai. Other occupants, namely the driver and his assistant, were also hit by bullets and are in hospital in Pemba after being rescued by the Rwandan force," said a source.

In another action last Wednesday, a group of terrorists captured two fishing boats near Tambuzi Island, in the district of Mocímboa da Praia.

In order to rescue the fishermen, the owner(s) of the boats paid a ransom.
