The Islamic State (IS) claimed on social media to have clashed with Mozambican and Rwandan forces on Monday around the town of Manica, in the Macomia district, near the coast of Cabo Delgado province, injuring several soldiers. The alleged clashes took place on the road to the town of Mucojo.

The IS also claimed yesterday to have detonated two improvised explosive devices against a Mozambican and Rwandan patrol near the village of Napala, also on the road to Mucojo, damaging an armored vehicle and injuring several soldiers.

Public television reported earlier this month that the insurgents had mined the roads leading to Mucojo, making it difficult for the security forces to move. (Zitamar)
