The Defense and Security Forces (FDS) deployments remain operational in the Northern Operational Theater (TON), so there is no evidence of defectors in any of the positions.
The information was given to MZNewsThis was reported by an FDS source today, following information that some members deployed to fight terrorism had abandoned their positions at the Mucojo Administrative Post, in the district of Mocímboa da Praia, in Cabo Delgado province. The reasons were a lack of food logistics, surrender and insurgent attacks.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, began by explaining that the military, as guardians of the state's sovereignty, have been trained and are prepared to live in situations of extreme need and hardship.
And in this sense, he noted that it was impossible for the troops to desert their positions because the land in Cabo Delgado, including Mucojo, is highly productive.
He said that the various SDS deployments are in constant contact and that there have been no reports of people abandoning their posts for any reason.
"We don't have any deserters in Mucojo. There is communication between all the positions. There are no reports of communication losses between the combat groups," he said.
The source explained that the terrorists currently have no logistical bases or barracks, but are carrying out small raids in some villages.
"That also makes the troops move, but that may not have been the case. We get information on a daily basis, but we haven't heard about this yet," he said.
To MZNewsOn the other hand, the source pointed to the possibility of small groups "who are not military and want to defame the work of the DSF. There is an attempt to subvert our work".
