Before this appointment, Benvinda Levi was an advisor to the President of the Republic, a position she had held since 2015.

Benvinda Levi was also Minister of Justice from 2008 to 2015, having headed the Legal and Judicial Training Center and served as a judge at the Maputo City Court.
