On Tuesday, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, appointed Américo Julião Letela to the post of Attorney General, replacing Beatriz Buchili.
"The appointment of the new Attorney General by the Head of State follows the end of Beatriz Buchili's mandate," explains a press release from the Presidency quoted by the newspaper "The Country".
Beatriz Buchili served two terms, one from 2014 to 2019 and the other from 2019 to 2024.
Américo Letela was, among other posts, director of the Office for Combating Organized and Transnational Crime.
