The Bank of Mozambique (BdM) announced on Thursday (13) that it has removed Standard Bank's resident inspector, Cláudio Júlio Mangue, four months after his appointment.
According to a note from the BdM, the withdrawal of Cláudio Júlio Mangue, a senior central bank official who had been appointed on October 14, comes after Standard Bank achieved "significant progress in risk culture, governance and internal control".
"This decision stems from the effective collaboration of Standard Bank, SA and its shareholder, as well as the significant progress made in the institution's risk culture, governance and internal controls," Banco de Moçambique said in a statement.
Despite the withdrawal of the resident inspector at Standard Bank, the BdM guarantees that the institution will continue to be "subject to supervision in accordance with the procedures applied to other banking institutions in Mozambique".
