A Somali citizen is facing charges with the National Migration Service (SENAMI) in Gaza, southern Mozambique, for possessing a fraudulently issued identity card in the Limpopo district, through which he intended to obtain a passport.
According to SENAMI, a national citizen has also been arrested in connection with the case. He is accused of having brokered the process of obtaining a birth certificate for the Somali, a document that the foreign citizen used to obtain an identity card.
Quoted by NewsThe migration authorities say that they are continuing their investigations with a view to neutralizing other individuals involved in the scheme.
This is the second case of Somali citizens trying to obtain passports using fraudulently obtained IDs. The first occurred in April of this year.
