Mozambican singer Assa Matusse is one of the headliners at the Sauti za Busara festival, which will take place in Zanzibar from February 14-17 under the slogan "Voices for Peace".
"Voices for Peace" is the motto of this edition, as the aim is to use music as a tool to defend peace and unity, as the world has witnessed the devastating effects of war in Africa and other regions.
The Festival's theme is also a beacon for those who aspire to promote harmony, especially in the regions where it is most needed.
In a press release, Festival Director Journey Ramadhan cites singer Assa Matusse as the only Mozambican representative this year, which is why he considers that she carries the weight not only of her nation, but also of the Lusophone community in general.
According to MZNews, Sauti za Busara is an international music festival that takes place every February on one of the most beautiful islands in the Indian Ocean - Zanzibar.
Cited by the BBC Worldwide Service as "One of Africa's best and most respected music events", the twenty-second edition of the festival features artists from countries across the different African regions.
The festival organizers believe that music has a huge influence on spreading messages and creating memorable moments of change, without wielding machine guns, song lyrics are powerful weapons for peace.
It's a unique opportunity to reflect on the voices of peace. Assa Matusse will be accompanied by Mozambican drummer Stélio Mondlane, Valter Mabasso on guitar and Albano Gove on bass.
The singer and her band are heading to Zanzibar in the hope of presenting an extraordinary show sharing positive messages and celebrating culture and diversity at Sauti za Busara 2025 in Zanzibar, the statement said.
