"The marches will not stop until the electoral truth is restored," according to Venâncio Mondlane

“As marchas não vão cessar, até a reposição da verdade eleitoral”, segundo Venâncio Mondlane

The independent presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane, reaffirmed today that the demonstrations against electoral fraud in Mozambique will not cease until the truth is restored.

"This will only end when the electoral truth is restored, when the will of the people is restored," he said.

According to Mondlane, the truth of the ballot box or respect for the decisions of the majority is a decision that declared him the winner of the presidential race and the Podemos party the winner of the legislative race in the general elections held on October 9.

"We want a ruling from the Constitutional Council that restores the truth. We want it to say that Podemos won the legislative elections and Venâncio Mondlane won as President of the Republic," he said.

He also said that a national agreement should be reached to put an end to kidnappings.

According to Mondlane, the city of Maputo, which is the administrative engine of the Mozambican economy, could be occupied indefinitely.

"The time for revolution has come. There is no turning back. This thing that is starting now can only end with regime change, with the restoration of the people's truth," he said in his appeal to the Armed and Defense Forces of Mozambique. "Make history. Unite with the people. March with the people.
