Some districts of the Maputo province may experience restricted circulation in the coming days, due to the increased flow of the main rivers in the southern region of the country.
The fact comes as a result of the rains that are falling locally and in some neighboring countries, a situation that is dictating an increase in runoff levels, due to the saturation of water retention dams.
The Director of the Umbeluzi Watershed Management Division, explains that since last December, the country has been receiving significant runoffs from the Kingdom of Eswathini and South Africa.
In light of this situation, Jaime Timba says that starting this Wednesday, the dams in the southern region of the country should increase their discharge volumes, a fact that could flood some access roads and agricultural fields.
The Director of the Umbeluzi River Basin Management Division, reiterates the call for the withdrawal of families living in the riparian areas of the main rivers of Maputo, with emphasis on the Maputo, Incomati and Umbeluzi basins.
The Ara Sul (Southern Ara) foresees the flooding of agricultural fields and restricted circulation in the sections Maragra-Machubo, Maragra-Calanga, Magude-Chinhanguanine, Magude Motaze, as well as in secondary and tertiary roads.
