Apresentado ao MEF o Código de Finanças para Mulheres Empreendedoras

In a courtesy meeting, the Permanent Secretary for Finance, Domingos Lambo, received a presentation of the Code of Finance for Women Entrepreneurs ("WE Code of Finance") from the Head of the Secretariat of the Support for Women Entrepreneurs initiative, Wendy Teleki.

The "WE Finance Code" is a global multi-stakeholder approach that aims to eliminate restrictions and financing gaps for women entrepreneurs around the world. It engages institutions across the financial ecosystem to strengthen leadership on the issue at institutional, national and global levels, also aims to improve the collection, analysis and use of supply-side data on the level and quality of financing for women-led businesses and take action in its relevant domain to help close financing gaps for women entrepreneurs.

Domingos Lambo welcomed the initiative and stressed that the Mozambican government has encouraging women entrepreneurs on its agenda, because entrepreneurial initiatives in different branches of activity have tended to grow in recent years in Mozambique, and entrepreneurship is the activity that attracts the most Mozambican women, so with this initiative we can say that we will be working together to make this code a reality.

Meanwhile, Teleki considers that her organization supports the "WE Finance Code", because it is aligned with the vision of women's empowerment and increasing financial capacities, being this a World Bank initiative aimed at empowering women, especially in African countries such as Mozambique, we hope that this partnership will be successful in this country to achieve the Code's objective of creating reinforcing incentives that catalyze actions throughout the financial ecosystem, participants are invited to define specific actions they will take to support these commitments.

The head said that specific actions could be defined during the integration process. Participants will be asked annually to provide updates on these activities. In addition, contact information and other details to facilitate communication, dissemination and coordination between Code participants will be requested during integration. Institutions should send their pledges to we-fi@worldbankgroup.org. They will be notified of the acceptance of the pledge and will be considered Signatories of the Code when their organization is added to a list of participants on the WE Finance Code website. As Signatories, they will have access to a logo and communication guidelines, as well as a Code implementation guide. (Info Note)
