The Angolan government has not yet commented on the current political situation in Mozambique, nor on the double murder in Maputo of lawyer Elvino Dias and the leader of the Podemos party.
The Angolan opposition is demanding a position from the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), which runs the country.
João Malavindele, coordinator of the NGO Omunga, believes that Angola's silence is due to the similarities between the ways in which the MPLA and Frelimo maintain power.
The United Patriotic Front (FPU), through its coordinator Adalberto Costa Júnior, is asking Luanda to also comment on the post-election situation in Mozambique. "The Frente Patriótica Unita urges Angolan institutions to pronounce themselves on the attacks on life, the restriction of freedom of demonstration and the distortion of the electoral truth."
